We all have moments in our lives when we feel overwhelmed or even depressed. The dishes and laundry begin to pile up. We look around and clutter has taken over our home. The more we look around at the mess the more overwhelmed and depressed we can become. I am going to share a couple of tips to help during these times.
When I am totally overwhelmed with my emotions, life and home, I use a technique to conquer the mess.
If my home has gotten out of control, I start with the room I am in the most and clean a little at a time. I will put on a series that I can binge watch or a movie. After I have watched half an hour of a show or movie and wrapped my mind around the fact that I am going to conquer this mess in my home, I set a timer for 15 minutes and begin cleaning.
I love to have a empty basket 🧺 on hand. Once I set the timer, I go around and gather anything that doesn’t belong in the room I am in and put it in my basket. Then I will sit it down and dust the room while that timer is running out. I will go back to my show for another half hour. The next 15 minutes that I set a timer for I will spend putting things away from my basket.
I do this process above over and over until each step is conquered in each room.
If I have a lot of dishes piled up in my kitchen, I will start soaking pots and pans or any dishes with stuck on food when I am starting in the kitchen. I will wipe my counters down, this usually takes up a 15 minute cleaning set.
You will be absolutely amazed what you can do by cleaning this way. You will feel accomplished as well as rested.
