I’m so excited to see February gone. March means spring is almost here.
Spring is a great time to do some
Spring cleaning. The very first time I ever heard of such a thing I was in junior high. My neighbor Pat Nigh hired me to help her spring clean. That is how I started in this business.
Spring cleaning can be done in one day or in stages. I recommend stages lol. Unless your hiring help such as myself and my amazing crew.
I have a small house so I will be starting in my bathroom which is where I suggest you start!
BATHROOM
Clean out under your sinks and throw away all your old make up, hair products, old shampoos and partial bottles. Clean your towel closets or cabinets out. Wash down the inside of your closets and cabinets. Maybe donate your old worn out towels or cut them up and use for cleaning rags for the rest of your spring clean.
Next open your window in that room and clean the window seals good. Use an old toothbrush to get down on the grooves. Wash your windows and pull down curtains to wash them. If you have blinds take them down and wash them in your tub or shower. Hang those all out side to dry in the spring sun.
Spray your shower down with a good scum cleaner. I use kaboom for deep cleans. Turn your shower on and let it steam up really good. Sometimes I use dry eraser or even sos pad to get those tough layers of. Shine up your faucets with vinegar.
Clean your toilet and do a really good deep clean around the base with old toothbrush and an enzyme cleaner. Throw it away when done lol. Clean around the floor of toilet and baseboard with same cleaner.
Wash down all the baseboards with hot water and maybe a cleaner like pine sol. Sweep or vacuum floors and rugs then do a good mopping with pine sol or Lysol. ♥️
Next I move to the bedrooms!
BEDROOMS
Go through your clothes in your drawers and get rid of clothes you don’t wear anymore. Same with closet. Make a giveaway bag for local donation pile. Bag them up and put them in your car immediately. Your next project will be to take to the location to donate.
Strip your curtains down and throw in the washer. Take down any blinds and shower them off or wash off outside and lay in the sun to dry. Clean your windows and window seals.
Pull your furniture away from walls and vacuum and mop under them. Don’t forget to wash your baseboards as well.
Do a deep clean on your ceiling fans. Then you can start cleaning your furniture top to bottom. Be sure to clean any of your items you have on furniture as well.
Vacuum your mattress really good. It might be time to flip that mattress as well. You should be able to wash your pillows and dry them. Be sure to check your tags. If your washer will hold the load wash your comforter, if not I recommend bagging it and taking to cleaners or laundry mat.
Living Room
Your living room is basically a repeat of what you have been doing. ♥️
Kitchen
This one is not so fun. Start with an ice chest to put all your things in out of your fridge. Unplug your fridge and let it thaw out while you are working on that oven. Then come back and clean this inside and out, top to bottom. Remove all your shelves and drawers to clean those and under them.
For your oven I soak the inside with Totally Awesome cleaner from the Dollar General. It’s a yellow cleaner. Wear a mask if house isn’t ventilated when spraying it. I let it soak while I use a good degrease on the top of stove. Remove your burners if possible and clean under those good. Oh And some stoves you can lift the top of stove up to clean. If you have drop pans under burners remove them and let soak in sink with comet on them. Scrub up with SOS pad when finished with stove and oven. Don’t spend too much time on them, you can always replace them at Walmart.
Take your knobs off if possible and clean those and where they go on stove. If you have glass top stove, follow directions on your cleaner.
For your oven you use a lot of elbow grease, SOS ,soaking and repeat!
I shine it all up with vinegar glass cleaner when finished.
On your drawers and cabinets, pull all your stuff out one at a time. Throw away things like bowls that you saved from butter dishes lol. Clean inside cabinets and drawers then put your things back. Scrub down the outside drawers and doors, your knobs and then shine real wood with some good ol fashioned Old English.
By now your pretty much seeing most activities are just a repeat per room.
If you need advice just comment on the blog.
I will help where I can.
