Cleaning Top To Bottom

Most of us walk into a room and see a pile of laundry, dishes or toys and think there is the mess. We hurry to clean it up so we can vacuum and mop. Maybe we run the swifter over the furniture and feel like we have accomplished our goals.

But have you ever sit down in your chair and looked down at your baseboards or up at your ceiling when reclined and went OMG 😮 look at that dust or cobwebs? Maybe you sit down in your bathroom on your toilet and looked eye level and something totally missed when cleaning.

One thing I’m learning that helps with my own home as well as others homes is make a list to check off. Start at one corner of your room and go from top to bottom all the way around your room. Do this for each room and print it off to use. Do this until you have developed a habit of consistency.

Another tip I learned from one of my clients is to sit down on the clean toilet, please close the lid first 😂 and look around at that level. Look up, mid level and all around the ground. Sit on the edge of the bed in bedrooms or couch in living room. In your kitchen squat down and look eye level with your counter tops and appliances.

On your flat surface items like tables and counters always run your hands over them after cleaning. You will be able to feel things you can not see with your eyes. You will feel grit or sticky if you missed anything

Double check under your furniture, get down on your knees and bend down and look with your phone light. I promise no matter how many times you stick that vacuum nozzle under there, it always misses something. Now at your own home you may do this monthly but if cleaning a clients this is always something to double check. Trust me they will see it when they sit across the room in another piece of furniture or they drop their cherry tomato and it rolls under the furniture, so they bend down to get it. LOL they will see all the animal hair and crumbled crackers you missed cleaning!!!

Open your microwaves and make sure they were not overlooked in the kitchen. This happens often to me at home and when at clients.

Raise the blinds in your houses while cleaning so natural light helps you see better. Always always turn on the lights while cleaning.

Okay these are the tips that I thought of for today. I am sure I will think of more.

I would love to get your feedback! Let me know if this helped you or if you have a good tip to share as well.
